Navigating the world of health insurance can be a daunting task.
Especially when it comes to understanding the role of preventative health programs and who foots the bill.
Some of these programs are funded by grants or nonprofits, easing the financial burden on the member.
A significant, yet often overlooked, resource is the availability of HSA and FSA dollars, although this only applies to about 20% of our population.
There are also opportunities for those who are being referred out.
Prevention, as crucial as it is, poses a challenge for payers.
Most of us get our insurance through our employers, and the insurer can change every few years, making it difficult for them to measure the return on investment in preventive health.
However, it's worth noting that the management and cost of managing diseases decrease when participating in physical activity and lifestyle programs.
