The pandemic led to a reassessment of how people were using their skills.
During the pandemic, positions were “fluid,” in many places. . .putting it mildly. The healthcare system was strained and people had to adopt, improvise, and overcome. People with all sorts of skills found themselves responsible for helping the sick in any way they could.
In business, there’s a saying along the lines of, “You don’t use a saw for a hammer’s job.” It’s the same with people. Knowing who to place in what position is crucial for success.
Some might do “OK,” but always look out for someone who can be “AWESOME.”
Involving your team in these placements is key. Ask them who they think will be the perfect fit and assess it against your own judgment. The people working together know more about their colleagues than anyone else.
