Ever thought about what goes on inside your body during a panic attack?
Well, it's different for everyone, but basically, your nervous system goes into overdrive. This can cause a bunch of physical things to happen, like sweating more, vision getting blurry, feeling your heart racing, mouth going dry, and sometimes even seeing stars. These are all signs that your body's having a panic attack.
But it's not just physical stuff. There are also mental things going on. You might start having really scary thoughts and feel like something awful is going down. It's like your body's hitting the panic button, telling you that something's not right.
The feeling can get so intense that some folks think they're about to kick the bucket.
Actually, panic attacks send about 1 percent of people rushing to the emergency room. It shows just how serious and overwhelming these episodes can be.
